Error I've never seen befire

I am not new to installing OS Commerce but im not an expert. I am setting a friend up with os commerce and he uses godaddy as a host i got everything set right but when i go to do the install i get an error ive never seen before

"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client"

im using the newest version of os commerce and godaddy is saying the version of the database is 4.1

any help would be greatly appreciated

ok thank you but that doesnt answer my question the mysql is on GoDaddy and i dont have access to change what that page says to change or if i do i cant find it. i was hoping there was something i could do to OS Commerce since i cant or at least i dont think i camn do anythiong to the mysql on godaddy????
