Authorize.net - SIM or AIM? default or contribution?

Hi everyone.

I have a very basic question, but i really cant find documentation anywhere (which leaves me quite surprised!)

I want to start to use Authorize.net on my site.

  1. I already opened and activated Authorize.net account.
  2. I install the default Authorize.net payment module in OSC 2.2 ms2.
  3. In the configuration panel, I input all the codes given by A.net.

The module appear in the checkout page.

first feedback: i dont get a list of card type, and i dont get the field for 3digit verification code (which make my form look 'poor')

Anyway, I input a WRONG card number, i click CONTINUE....

I get a SUCCESSFUL order message. and authorize.net doesnt get anything.

Now, before I see how to solve my problem, i would like to understand a bit more about the scenario.

OSC comes with a integrated module.

but http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4091 offers an alternative one.

  • What are the differences?
  • would i get the card type list in the contribution?
  • can i get it in the default module as well?

are both the default module and the contribution AIM? or one is SIM?

what do these 2 words mean, in term of user experience?

sorry, i know i am asking for a lesson more then an advice, but i am really lost!

thanks!
