Hello World Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Hello, I am setting up my first shopping cart and i was hoping someone could clear up some easy questions for me. With a Shipping Module, i have one installed for Fedex, what exactly does it do? It just generates fairly accurate quotes for shipping for me? It doesn't actually place an order for shipping with Fedex or anything does it? Also, my client has 2 product categories and charges a seperate fee for each type for packaging. How would i add this fee into the shopping cart? In the shipping module calculations? Thanks
jasonabc Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 The FedEx module comes back with shipping prices from FedEx.com based on: 1) Where your store is located 2) Where the item is being sent to 3) How heavy the package is 4) How fast they want it delivered. It does not place an order with FedEx - it just gives accurate prices so the customer has this added to their bill when they check out. There is a field in the FedEx module to add a handling fee. Hello World Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Thanks for your reply. I have come up with another simple question... What if I find out it costs more to ship the order and the customer has already paid based on the estimation? How would you get the extra fees? (Using PayPal for example) Thanks
