How to secure the admin folder

Dear all

First of all tnx for your support on this forum.

I managed to upload my online company store. One thing which is still on my mind is the security of the admin folder. I ve read that one has either change the name of the folder or password protect it. I tried to change its name but after I enter into the admin tool, the tools inside are still tied to the admin path and thus it prevents you from any editing. I also tried to password protect the admin folder using Cuteftppro 8 but I cannot find the option.

Could you pls clarify this matter and explain what is the normal procedure to secure it? It would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

guzi

Go to the administration side of your web hosting account (cpanel or similar) and either through file manager or the equivalent for your web host, find the password protect folder option. Once you are there navigate to your admin foilder and apply password protection, nominate your login and password. Save it.

Once done you will need to use a login and pass to get into that folder on that server.

Hope this helps
