I have a question and I was hoping to get some help.

 

I recently bought an script off the web and it was based on osCommerce.

 

However the seller didnt say that when he sold that to me ... so is that illegal

 

I also wanted to know if it is illegal to take the script and sell it to someone else since it is based on OsCommerce which is open source

 

I also wanted to know if it is illegal to take the script and change things and then sell it

The package can be sold, changed or not, but the license stating it is open source has to be included. It is usually not that someone is selling the oscommerce package in its stock form but after they have made some change, like in the appearance. There are many sites on the web that make a lot of money doing just that.

However, there is no copyright that it is based on OsCommerce when I try to view the source ... is that legal? The script seems to be based on OsCommerce, but I cant say 100% that it is. If it is possible, could you please tell me if that is based on OsCommerce and confirm that there is nothing wrong with me taking the item I just purchased from him and selling it again
