This is my first time trying to use shopping cart software outside of a host that provides and configures it for me through a childish interface, and I'm (almost) hopelessly lost.

I've installed the software using the information from http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=162231 and followed the post installation steps from http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/I...nd_Upgrades/224. I [think I] added a product to my catalog using the "new product" button on the administration page, but have absolutely no clue how to see the item from the internet. Much less add it to a "shopping cart". How do I view my catalog/products from my website?

Finally, I have a merchant account, but cannot find any way in the admin area where I specify a gateway, username, or password.

If anyone can help me get rolling, I will truly appreciate it. I don't know what to do next.

Jason, I suggest focusing on the basics for now, such as navigating through your new osCommerce store, viewing a few stock osCommerce products and just getting the flow of how osCommerce works.

You will make all your changes to your store through the "admin" panel.

To get to the admin panel, you will need to access it through your browser with an address similar to: http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog/admin (you may or may not have your store files in a folder called "catalog". It could be called "my_shop" or "shop" or no extra folder at all since your installation may be in the "root" of your web space).

To view your shop, you should have a URL such as http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog or http://www.yourdomain.com depending where you installed osCommerce.

Hope this helped,

Bill Kellum
