wallscott Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I have launched a new Online Wine Store at http://www.5starwine.com/ I am interested in reading some of your feedback about the store. Thanks in advance Bryant
dynamoeffects Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Looks like you spent a lot of time building up your product categories. My suggestions are: Lose the language and currency selector if there's only one choice for each. Add pictures of the bottles AND labels, not just the label. Add one of the dynamic category lists so that I don't have to refresh the page as I drill down to the category I want. The logo gets lost in the design. It should stand out more. The reviews should be on the same page as the wine description. People buy wine based on how pretty the label is, or what others tell them. Your SSL certificate doesn't work because your base href tag is set incorrectly. I think the one thing that would make your store successful is if you built a wine suggestion where it asks the visitor a series of questions, and lists wines that they might like. Even better would be to make it more community based with forums and wines suggested by customers. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
♥bruyndoncx Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 The categories box is unclear as the subcategories are not indented. On the subcategory pages the list of subcategories is centered and too busy giving an unorderly effect. I'd put less of them on a line and possibly left align and loose the dot. A kind of wine guide would be ideal to add to your site. for example if you had something like this chart http://www.vacuvin.nl/Be_Wine_Smart_387.html with clickthrough so that you list particular wines matching that would make it much easier to find the right wine. KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?! Find the most frequent unique errors to fix: grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt

chooch Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I am interested in reading some of your feedback about the store. It is a template that is widely available, what feedback do you want when all the sites using that template look the same?? Some have actually been proactive enough to remove the ridiculous single language 'flag' (which you haven't) and some have even got rid of the single currency box (which again you haven't). another site asking for feedback not so long ago. You could have and definately should have added in your 'request for feedback' that you used a template otherwise people may think you designed the site and may end up complimenting you when you did nothing of the sort. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
dynamoeffects Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Seem a bit angry there, Cooch. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
wallscott Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 I appreciate all the feedback I got from the site. I have been working on how to impliment some of suggestions that have been put forth.
