To change the layout, you'll either need to install one of the template contributions like STS, or edit the files directly... If you choose one of the template contributions, you'll need to follow their instructions for installation, and then for how to modify the template... If you edit the files directly, you'll need to be able to separate the HTML from the PHP, and modify it accordingly to get the layout you want...
