knott Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 www.downsleepingbag.co.uk The second OSC site I have built, nothing very exciting to look at but I'm pleased with the ways its working. As with my first site I'm still working on the buttons to fit the colour scheme. I was quite pleased with the integration I did on this one with our payment provider. It basicly feeds into an existing secure payment account (thats normally integrated with another shopping cart) but has custom payment, success and failure screens. It also feeds through which online store made the sale.
Andrew Yuen Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I suggest several things, your header is fixed width while the rest of your site is fluid. I suggest making the rest of your site fixed width like your header. I would remove the product count as well as the (->) in the categories infobox. I also suggest changing the button colors to something other then blue to match the orange color scheme of your website. Finally, I suggest adding SSL and removing the specials box as it is creating lots of white space in your footer. Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team
chooch Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Why haven't you replaced the stock buttons? The blue buttons with your orange stylesheet are not a good combination. I don't like the layout and I think the site is too stock looking. Maybe you should add a fixed width contribution and add a decent image contribution so your products can be seen clearly. Items like sleeping bags should really be shown close up so customers can see the material. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH

Hi chooch, thanks for the feedback, as I mentioned in my original post I've been working on the buttons - well its now done, they are also orange to match. I'm into "stock" looking e-commerce sites - why, cos people know exactly where to go. I'm not going to make it fixed width, if anything I'll work on the static site so its also "stretchy" I like the idea about seeing material, thanks very much. I'm going to think about this further before looking for a contribution. Previous hunts for a "decent" image contribution havn't fullfilled my requirements, if you can recommend any please let me know. thankyou
squalid Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I'm into "stock" looking e-commerce sites - why, cos people know exactly where to go you can make a store easy to use and navigate, and also look like some effort has been put into it. to get an order you need customer confidence, and i doubt whether an almost stock store would inspire alot of confidence
Guest Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 i'd suggest increasing the margins on the left and right sides. The site looks GREAT other than it seems very packed. Almost makes me feel claustrophobic. LOL Very nice color scheme.
