It scares me sometimes

Guys,

 

It scares me sometimes, how can it be that my Oscommerce installation is working stable for 3 years in a row without any problems? Why isn't there any monthly security update (or am I missing something) like there is with other popular php scripts?

 

I love it, don't get me wrong, I really do! But how can this be, aren't there a bunch of bad guys out there who are getting a kick of hacking scripts like this?

Yes but understand hacking an ecommerce site carries a much stiffer penalty than hacking a info site or cms system because of the transaction of money.

 

Now you will get the oscasional moron but generally they know better because you don't want visa and mastercard to come after you.

 

Generally hackers break into websites to steal information but cc info is not stored in the osc system so the benifit is low and the risk is to high.

 

Now hackers that hack for bragging rights might replace a file now and again that is why you should backup backup backup.
