Guest Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 good evening ! please could you give my store feedback, reviews, improvements, recommendations etc http://shop.kb-online.co.uk what do you think of it oscommerce wise?, what could i do etc. many thanks! for you kind help !
Andrew Yuen Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Your store header is very cluttered and is not properly designed for large screen resolution as there is currently white space to the right of the header on the computer I am at. Also, there are way to many infoboxes to the left and right of your site creating lots of clutter. Your categories infobox is hard to navigate as there are too many top level categories. Consider grouping some top level categories together and removing the (->). Finally I would remove the request counter in the footer and move the paypal information next to the SSL information. dynamoeffects Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Less text. You have a giant graphic that talks about low prices, and then the front page of your site is completely devoid of products illustrating that. Plus, it's not good English, which would make me think that it's a fly-by-night. Before I realized it, I had closed the tab with your store in it without even looking around forgetting that I was supposed to be reviewing your site. Just think what potential customers will be doing. That needs to be a page full of products with big discounts. 99.99% of your customers won't care about dropshipping. There's not reason to have it on your front page to talk to .01% of your visitors. If you're going to charge everyone 4.3% on top of their order to pay your processor fees, don't worry about processor fees because you won't have any orders. Also, it looks like you're trying to make a profit with your fee (I've never seen a PayPal fee that high), which sends up big red flags in my mind. Reminds me of the ebayers who will sell you a widget for $1, then charge you $50 for shipping. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
jonquil Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Just a few things. "PRICEMATCH: If you find this item cheaper elsewhere, please fill out our Pricematch Form and we will attempt to beat any valid competitors prices!" Attempt? You will either beat the price or you won't. This is really odd wording IMHO :) Your "Site Problems? see site problems page" link in your header goes back to the main page. "This product was added to our catalog on ." There's no date. Way too many categories. I agree with Andrew: consolidate. With respect to your main page text, you need a grammarian. The first paragraph is one looooooooooog sentence with misplaced commas, one exclamation point and one full stop. Most of the content on your main page can be moved to more appropriate links from your Information Box, including a Site Updates page. No offense but I loved this: "we can disuse almost everything" I looked at a couple of products and left. I felt invited to stay by the colour scheme but once I started reading, I booked. jon It's all just ones and zeros....
chooch Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I think there is too much info on the home page - there is way too much text (as mentioned before) The logo in the header doesn't cover the full header - the 3 images to right are atopping it from doing so, the resulting white area is not pretty at all. All the product info pages are dull. Once the very little description text is added, the rest of the page is filled with a white void because columns left and right are far too long - that needs to change. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH

(note the images will not work due to on tester, when copy to live store they will) The live store is obviously your work as it is stock osC and it shows, but the 'tester' one is a template. What comments are we supposed to give about your choice of template? Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Guest Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I was able to sign up for an account, and add an item. I got through to the processing page (paypal) but quit there, as I really don't need to order anything, but it looked like everything was working Your graphics when my account was created, and in my account profile were the original OSCommerce graphics, which don't seem to flow all that well with the rest of your site. That was really the only thing I noticed.....nice looking site though, good job

♥bruyndoncx Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I don't like it when the amount to pay is not the total displayed. I believe it is against paypal terms to charge % Are you really selling to Afghanistan and the rest of the world ? Is there only one Crazy offer ? it seems to be hardlinked and a bit silly to show this on the actual product page. KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?! Find the most frequent unique errors to fix: grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt

chooch Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I really don't like this particular template, it is so old and common.... Look at the way the product listing is displayed here: CLICK It looks awful with all those breaking boxes! You don't need a parse time stats counter at the footer, what's the point of that to your customers? Your logo in the header looks really bad because the size is not imposing enough and the colour does not match your site layout. Surely you can buy a more effective and unique looking one for you business? I am sure have done your own bits and bobs on the template and are somewhat attached to it but I really think you should consider an alternative template. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Guest Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 You have no About You page. Personally, I would never buy from a site that did not provide any information about themselves.
Guest Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 thanks Sarah ill add one of them forgot about that page ! cheers
ckyshop.co.uk Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 May I ask what template you are using in this store? Thanks for any help/comments. Regards, Lewis Hill
