khime
This is the oscommerce session id for the user and it is important to turn it off as when google visits your site it indexes that session as the full url to that page. Next time it visits it will have a different session url but the same info on the page so google thinks maybe its a spam page. go to admin->configuration->sessions Force cookie use->true Check session id->false check user agent->false check ip address ->false prevent spider sessions ->true recreate session ->true You should see your url is much cleaner now

Guest
session ids are not a bad think I do seo for clients all the time IT IS NOT A PROBLEM THE SEARCH ENGINES IGNORE THEM! Now leave them on if you are having a problem so will customers. Most customers will find somewhere else to shop before they change computers settings to use your site. Simple is good don't make it difficult for customers they don't care about session neither should you. With fraud online and scams telling people to change browser settings they will think you want to download something to their computers And with the new crappy windows vista out it will cause more problems I am sure. So leave them on and alone. Otherwise you will lose sales. The choice is yours. Hi all I remember seeing a thread regarding getting rid of the sid, does anybody seen it somewhere? However, it would look better without the sid. Anyway to get rid of it without farcing the cookies? Thanks

Thanks if the session stays with the url after couple of clicks within your store it means your cookies are not setup properly. So you need to check the cookie paths/domains in your catalog\includes\configure.php. The fact that you get to the cookies usage when you force cookies verifies this.
