Guest Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 anyone ever have weird occurances shipping to venezuela? customer does a large order and gets it shipped out relatively quickly (nothing to be suspicious about in his purchase, all items are consistent) he orders another (second) large order of similar items, again, nothing out of the ordinary. figured he was just pleased with the fact his first order went out quickly. paypal seizes the funds within an hour of his latest purchase, but leaves the first order alone. by paypal's auto-generated description notice, seems as though it's just "routine" on their part. eventually, the money is taken form my account and i just mark the order canceled. never received any explanation from either paypal or the buyer so i just figured it was a weird one-off situaiton. same customer does an unauthorized chargeback nearly four months later, with no explanation. never so much as heard a peep from this guy. so of course, i'm out the funds, shipping and the items  anyone else have any weird instances like this? i've had a few other problems with venezuelans insisting on returning items that were correctly received or threatening a chargeback or bbb report (ooh, scary!! ) a week after their purchase, without reason.. but nothing much other than that.
dynamoeffects Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I've suggested before that any orders outside of Canada, USA, or western Europe should be met with instant suspicion and you should spend the money to call them and confirm their order. So much that I've modified a payment module before to only authorize the card if the customer is outside of that area. Of course there are crooks all over the world, but orders from certain countries are almost 100% fraudulent. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
