Hi all,

 

I hope someone can help me with a site problem. I am a designer with a small amount of technical skill. The following site was customized using oscommerce by someone who new .php www.littlefollies.com The problem is that after logging in as a customer or creating a new account the site goes dead or you get a blank screen. It happens in both Windows and Mac browsers. If any of you code gods can figure out this problem I would be great indebted.

Check your server error logs - these should give an indication of what's wrong. You should be able get these through your web hosting control panel. If not - ask your host to enable them.

 

 

Thank you for responding. Here is the error code file. Can you tell anything from it? I'm clueless with this kind of stuff. I would greatly appreciate your help.

Download a fresh copy of OSC and replace those two files with new ones. If they work - then there is something in your modified create_account files which is causing the page to break.

 

If they don't work then your problems lie elsewhere - probably in /includes/configure.php.

You have a heavily modified OsCommerce setup there.

By using an FTP client you can check the modified date and time of all of the files.

Do you know when the site last worked properly? If you do check for file modified since this date / time.

Based on OsCommerce 2.2 MS2 - Mods Including: Customer Approval, STS Template System, OS-CMS, Sage Line 50 Sync, Locate a Stockist, Auto Thumbnailer, Easy Populator, Visitors Stats, Extra Images, Header Tags Controller, Unsold Cart, Products w/o Description/Prices/Images Reports, Backup Customers Table, Login to See Prices. Full customised products_info.php page. OSC Links Manager. Minimum Order Amount. Visitor Web Stats. Google Sitemap. All products page (user sitemap).

 

The OsCommerce Site is hosted on 1 domain with 20 feeder domains extracting data from OS-CMS & the shop catalogue.

Yeah this would cause problems with the whole site though...? Not just the create_account pages.

Thanks for helping. How can I check what version of PHP the webhost is running? Should I contact them to see if they recently changed it. We host through ixwebhosting.

One little thing tho, when I log into my account first and then pile up a cart it asks me to log in again. But I do not know if this inconvenience existed before.

If anybody has an idea on this please let me know.

No, we haven't got the shopping cart workiing yet. the rest of the site is working fine, except for the ecommerce section which is having problems. ixwebhosting claims they haven't updated php in some time. We are at a loss.

Did you ever try the suggestion to backup those files and replace them with stock versions from a freshly-downloaded oscommerce package? What you may be running into is a situation where your host has error_reporting turned off, and your page has a parse or syntax error in it, so it never compiled correctly... Normally this would throw an error like this for instance:

But if your host has error_reporting turned off, you won't see that error, you'll just see nothing but a white page... If you replace that file with a stock version that's known now to have any parse errors in it, you can see if that page loads ok for you, and if it does, you'll need to figure out where your page has that parse error at... Try this method first just to confirm that you can load an original version of that page with no errors, and remember to backup your original before overwriting it :)

Did you ever try the suggestion to backup those files and replace them with stock versions from a freshly-downloaded oscommerce package? What you may be running into is a situation where your host has error_reporting turned off, and your page has a parse or syntax error in it, so it never compiled correctly... Normally this would throw an error like this for instance:
