New Store ready to open

I took a quick look and here are my initial impressions:

I think you should make it clear what you are selling. How about a nice picture of eyes in the header? It took me a couple of minutes to work out that these were contact lenses for eyes, not camera lenses.

I presume the absence of a category menu is deliberate because you have only the one category. Why then have a currency drop-down with only one currency?

Is the domain name just temporary? It doesn't seem to relate to the company name.

Spellcheck - 'bewteen' on you conditions page.

While the site appears to be functional for the most part, it is very bland and boring. I think it's the colors but it's also lack of information and product. Some of the pictures are blurry. Like the previous post stated, your domain name doesn't reflect who you are and you need to lose the currency box. There is not any information about the company. I also wonder why there is no guarantee information since the accuracies of contact lenses are very important.

Those are just "user" observations. :)

Thanks for the comments. They are appreciated.

The name of the store hasn't been finalised and the domain name I am using is just a test area of mine. Once the store name is finalised then a domain name, logo and colors will be dicided. The current colors are based on the log I have inserted.

Currency box is now gone.

The absence of the catalog menu is because there is only 1 catalogue.

Taking some photos today of the actual products in their boxes, so the product images will change.

Guarantees, conditions etc will be finalised by the company for me to put in, after they have consulted with their legal team. I have just put some generic info in there so as to see how it sits.

Keep the comments coming!

Thanks once again

Grammar, Punctuation, Spell check!

-Conditions of Use

-Privacy Notice

-Delivery & Refunds

On some product descriptions, I see "Packet6 Lenses". You could do a query on that data base field to insert a space between "Packet" and "6". Given the format of your list, it should look like this? Packet 6 Lenses

On your specials product, Spell Check!

I agree, lenses can be quicky thought to be for a camera, not for the eye :) You may consider adding a bit of Welcome Text that orients the visitor straight away.

In your Breadcrumb Bar, I see "Lens Catalogue". Perhaps "Contact Lens Catalogue" would be helpful.

Overall, nice and clean :)

It's all just ones and zeros....

I think you should localise some of the wording. The "Cart" and "Checkout" in my opinion are very americanised. What would you say in new Zealand?

Based on OsCommerce 2.2 MS2 - Mods Including: Customer Approval, STS Template System, OS-CMS, Sage Line 50 Sync, Locate a Stockist, Auto Thumbnailer, Easy Populator, Visitors Stats, Extra Images, Header Tags Controller, Unsold Cart, Products w/o Description/Prices/Images Reports, Backup Customers Table, Login to See Prices. Full customised products_info.php page. OSC Links Manager. Minimum Order Amount. Visitor Web Stats. Google Sitemap. All products page (user sitemap).

The OsCommerce Site is hosted on 1 domain with 20 feeder domains extracting data from OS-CMS & the shop catalogue.

If you would like to view my website in relation to any of my posts you can google my forum username to find my URL or add a (dot)co(dot)uk to the end of it.

Thanks for that. I think that most people who purchase online are relatively used to those terms. I started off by using basket, abnd changed back to cart.

Anyway, I have taken on board what you have said and will pass it by the owner. Thanks once again

I have upgraded the site a little more so am interested in getting further comments please.

A lot of changes made since last post so if possible I would appreciate some feedback please before I go live.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I like it! Clear, simple to use and the colours work.

I'd probably make the contact information more prominent but good work.

Thanks. I have tried to keep it fairly 'sterile' due to the lack of product that is available but at the same time making it eye pleasing and easy to use. For the most part I have made it so that it doesn't matter how many products we end up with I can adapt it very quickly to suit. This place has some great stuff and people on. I have appreciated the help I have had, but for the most part I have enjoyed learning. PHP is completely new to me, as is mySQL.

So to all....thanks
