Suggestions for the admin module

This is just an idea that I had, but unfortunately, I do not have the time, knowledge, or an actual use for this but I could imagine that quite a few site builders/maintainers might like one of the two suggestions (please, if you do fall over laughing, do not sue me for causing bodily injury). If these are already in use, please pardon my oversite as I did not find anything in the contrib section!

#1 - Create an option via a dropdown in the admin that would set a global variable as to which of many configure.php files would be the one being used. For example, configure_1.php could be for database osc_1, configure_2.php for database osc_2, etc. That way one admin could be easily set up to control as many databases as needed by just adding another configure_?.php to the directory.

The above could be the easier one, the one below may prove nearly impossible to implement depending on whether separate databases can be made to share info (like user data) and if not too much of the environment was changed when the option is selected (so that a shared shopping cart, etc., is possible). Someone much smarter than I would need to address those issues.

#2 - In the main admin directory, be able to set another variable for the other configure.php (the one in catalog/includes and maybe even include a css file along for good measure) that could actually change what database is used when that category is chosen (the css for some cosmetic changes). Of course, it would have to be able to create the database if it did not already exist, pretty basic MySQL usage. When implemented, the site could work similar to a shopping mall so that individual top categories would look and act almost like separate websites. This would give the owner of that category his own admin module with access to only his database (categories) while still retaining overall control by the site owner. The individual owners could pay a percentage of the sales to the site, a monthly fee, or whatever the agreement would be. Since checkout would go through the site, any fees could be collected in advance.

If someone gets rich off of this, please help this old guy out and send a contribution via paypal to [email protected] as my landlord and other bill collectors would appreciate it nearly as much as I.
