Guest
I've installed using Fantastico from the ControlPanel at my ISP, latest version. Get register_globals error. Research error. I install on my localhost server and get the same error. Research it also. I've come to the conclusion that there IS NO clean install of this program. Why not? I laboriously wen through the v1.5 patch for the register_globals error and while that appeared to work it got hung up on trying to open up other sections of Admin. I have spent the better part of the day trying to get this to work and I find it absolutely incredible that this error and any others that are causing installation problems haven't been fixed. I can understand some idiosyncracies with a module here or there, but not with an initial install. Is there anyone who can Timbuktu into my computer and set this up from the get go? If I can get it working on localhost, it's easy enough to transfer it to the ISP server. Deacon

bobg7
Register Globals in set in the php.ini file on both your system and your hosts. For your system just edit the php.ini file and set register globals to ON. As for the hosts installer, they should have the fix already coded in so this error won't happen. I would contact the host and have them fix the issue. Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going. I would contact the host and have them fix the issue. I edited the the php.ini file in the root of the site on the host's server, setting Register_Globals to On (it was that way to begin with). I still get an error that it isn't ON. I should mention that this server is running php5 instead of 4. Deacon

What finally worked, and my ISP did this, was to make sure the php.ini file WITH Register_Globals = On was installed in each of these three folders: catalog catalog/admin catalog/includes So far, it's working.....
