What is the difference betweeen the PayPal IPN module and the one that comes with osCommerce?

 

I am having lots of trouble with the standard one and noone has responded to my questions here so I am thikning of switching.

Paypal has added an option named IPN (Instant Payment Notification) since the module that comes with oscommerce was released so that module will not recognize IPN. IPN will notify your shop that a payment has been made as soon as it is done so that the customer doesn't have to return to your shop. If the customer doesn't return to the shop and you are using the stock module, the order will not be recorded on your site.
