designbysue Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I continue to get the following warning even though the permissions are set to 444 through the server control panel: Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /services/webpages/i/n/intentionsjewelry.com/public/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file I have been on hold for about 15 minutes with my server's "tech support" and they can only tell me the settings are 444. How can I remove this message?

How can I remove this message? Hi Sue, Did you also set the configure.php file in the /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 644? cheers, Gem :)
designbysue Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 Yes, infact it is alsl 444 Hi Sue, Did you also set the configure.php file in the /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 644? cheers, Gem :)
Guest Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Yes, infact it is alsl 444 Don't they only have to be set at 755? Are you using FileZilla (recommended by my web host).
Guest Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Don't they only have to be set at 755? Are you using FileZilla (recommended by my web host). Hi, This is from the PDF Documentation: You are nearly finished! Rename the catalog/install folder or delete it. Reset the permissions on /catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still getting the warning message at the top set configure.php to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). Set the permissions on /catalog/images directory to 777. Reset the permissions on /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 644. Create the dir /catalog/admin/backups and set the permissions to 777. Set the permissions on /catalog/admin/images/graphs directory to 777. You need to .htaccess your /catalog/admin directory so that it is password protected. You can use the password manager in your server admin area like cpanel. Congratulations! Now you are really done! cheers, Gem :)

The version of PHP you are running should have nothing to do with permissions you have set files at. Most hosts do not allow you do change permissions via FTP. You have to do it from the File Manager in your web hosting control panel. Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix

I've set my file permissons to 644 on both config files via Cuteftp AND double checked them via my file manager on Cpanel... and I'm still getting the error message. How do I downgrade my php level? :) Short of that the only solution I can see is to simply comment out the error message. The files are definately set to 644.
