help for a complete newbie

The only knowledge i have of web programming is a little HTML. I would like to use the oscommerce template, but I know that I do not have the knowledge needed to make the relatively complicated ecommerce site that I have in mind.

 

Can somebody tell me EVERYTHING I need to study in order to be able to do this? What languages do I need to have some knowledge about in order to do this?

To set up the layout you should have good knowledge of HTML and CSS.

 

For further changes you also should know PHP, maybe MySQL.

 

There are a lot of good sites around where you can get the required informations. You should read also the documentation of the mentioned languages. To find them sites, just google a bit.

 

Other than that a lot of forums are supplying feedback on any kind of questions you undoubtledly will have.

John, you could get up and running rather quickly using what you already know and a WYSIWYG editor, I would suggest using the osCommerce add-on "The Simple Template System".
