Stuck On First Page

I am trying to setup osCommerce with Fasthosts using a Linux hosting package. I came across the "Register Globals" problem and appear to have successfully installed the patch. However, I cannot access anything other than the home pages on either the shop front or the admin control panel. Clicking on a link seems to bring the same page up as before. I have researched the problem on these forums (http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=177004&hl=register_long_arrays), and believe the problem is to do with a setting called "Register Long Arrays" in php.ini. However, php.ini not accessable for modification on the Fasthost servers. I have also tried creating a file called ".htaccess" with the code "php_value register_long_arrays on" in but this just gives a server error. Please let me know if you have any ideas or workarounds.

Add this to your .htaccess along with the other stuff

Thanks for your reply, but Ive already tried this. Adding a .htaccess makes an "Incorrect Server Configuration" message appear.

look in your error log and copy+paste it into the forum
