I am attempting to replace the standard backgrounds of the various box's new products for..., best sellers etc...with a picture gif file.

The picture has not filled the space with a single insertion but has "tiled" to fill the box see here

I have edited the stylesheet file and script is below.

Can anyone offer any advive.

Best regards

Peter

hi peter

with html and css it is not possible to achieve what you are trying to do because the individual boxes are different sizes and they adjust to fit the content. unless you specify a different background image for each box (or at least different dimensions for the same image) you will get this tiling effect, and you will still get it if the dimensions of the box change with content.

sorry if my previous reply was a bit negative, but having had a look at your store, i think it would be best to get it functioning the way you need it i.e. add and remove components and see what you're left with. have a look at http://agentblu.co.uk/shop I only started with osc last week and i have concentrated on getting the site running. when it is functioning properly i will smarten it up.

the other thing you could try is to use a bg image that fades in one plane only rather than both. that way if you get the width (or height) right, when it tiles it wouldn't be noticed.

Firstly many thanks for your speedy response.

I have been at this for a little longer than yourself but I am a complete novice.

Never had such a steep learning curve in my life but it is great fun !!.

I have taken your advice (take another look) and used a different background as suggested.

The reason I used the original is that I saw it on a OS site and it worked out there so there must be a way somewhere.

Please feel free to check out my progress and I am delighted to share anything I pick up with.

Thanks again

Just a footnote...going back to my first background.

If I only wanted to use it in the side boxes and not on the larger ones or as a backdground for "shipping " "privacy" etc ...do you have any ideas how to do that.

Peter
