Ok guys/gals...

I changed dedicated servers at the weekend, and a part from the hardware the software is exactly the same, i use cPanel/WHM and migrated oscommerce to the new server that way...

I have tested standard php/sql websites i have on the same server and they are working, so php/sql is installed correctly and cant be that.

I compared both phpinfo's on each server and all config data is the same.

whats happening is, when you access the shop www.domain.com/shop, it just comes up "page cannot be displayed", if you delete the config file it comes up with the warning about it cant find a config file, so the problem is somehow with the configure.php file.

Is there something i have forgotton to install on the server or a setting i need to turn on?

The server spec is:

mysql (latest version)

php 4.4.4

centos (latest version)

cpanel/ehm

i appricate any replies and help! thanks!

Did you change the directory path info to match your new directory path on the new server? i.e. if your old path to your document root was something like /home/username/www, is it the same on this host or is it something like /usr/home/username/www?

i stand corrected...

in my 1st post i mentioned i have php 4.4.4..... well in fact it is 4.4.5......... as per other threads kicking around at the moment, Oscommerce does not work with PHP 4.4.5, due to Register_Globals.....

You either have to wait and upgrade to 4.4.6, downgrade to 4.4.4 or apply the REGISTER_GLOBALS fix....

My heart goes out to you Dave, I spent my weekend right here begging for help.

I moved my site to a secure site and whala! Nothing worked right and files began to mysteriously disappear.... my modules.... my images wouldn't upload with the product.... and then the script began to go buggy for some reason because you could see the codes..... Tim on the board thought it was all the define codes in the language area.... nope, they matched the originals....

Never did find out exactly what happened..... sadly....

I had to have it all torn down and we are in the process of rebuilding.

I hope you have a better time of it then I did and it works out for you. Nothing I found, read or tried worked and I tried from Friday night till this morning.....

I wish you all the best!

Sincerely

Char

What kind comments!

Thanks a bunch :)

I am sorry Dave, as I said, my heart goes out to you. I KNOW your pain intimately!

I didn't mean to discourage you in the least either, I sincerely do hope your situation turns out better then mine. What my computer fella told me was....

When you this many people creating an open source program, such as oscommerce, there are bound to be bugs and all kinds of goodies that will crop up.

Me, I think all those "hidden file" grab onto their location and when you try to move from one serve to the next, it is like a ghost and wants to hang on tight to where it was.

A kind fella named Peter gave me this information: if you have CPanel you need to go to PHPMyAdmin and you will see your current DB that you are using. Look for the name of the DB and the User of the DB. Make sure they match your info in both your configure.php files.

Hope that might help you... my site is being rebuilt from scratch as we speak.

Sorry :(

Sincerely

Charlene
