I cant seem to figure this crap out. I have just purchased a virtual server plan from my host. Its been a while since I have done any of this, but I cant seem to figure out how to get everything set up on the new server. I tried doing the install as directed, I have the DB set up already, that was no problem, but for the life of me I cannot figure out out to get to run the install.

my existing site on the old shared server is still running, but I want to get everything running right on the new server prior to calling them and having them cut it off. anyone that can help me with this, would be a great help. When I put the catalog directory where I think it should go, and then try to access it from a browser, I get 404 errors. I'm confused.

I'll give any one of you the proper credentials to go in and have a look. Once I get pointed in the right direction, I'll be fine, just need someone to turn the compass.

thanks for all,

shawn

If it was easy, anyone could do it!

this is just a guess, but probably a good one: open up /includes/configure.php and check that all the paths are correctly configured.

cheers,

If you are installing a copy of the old website you must put the install folder back in and then make sure configure.php files are read writeable. (all your folders and subfolders for that matter)

If you are going to pull your hair out and then make a post for help you may condider posting the steps you have done and what exactly is the problem with you install.

I makes all of up guess at what is so difficult about an easy piece of software.
