Did spam cause this to happen?

Hi,

 

Two days ago my site got hit badly with Spam - (yes I do have every known update required for this done) & although I have been very fortunate that this hasn't happened in awhile it still does randomly occur.

 

So in order to stop it two days ago I renamed my contact_us.php in hopes it would have stopped the Spam - but it did not as I still got at least 40 or more undeliverable mails from my account being spammed. Of course I do have to say that this time the Spam is very different from the last post I had made on this...

 

Anyhow since it began I noticed in my OS site under my "Whos Online" feature that any bots on my site will now show up twice & when I click on it - it highlights it both as if it was one. I thought it at first was a glitch or something & would go away the next day but it didnt & I know it must have something to do with being spammed because thats when it started to occur.

 

 

I contact my Host in hopes they can help but as usually their reply was of no help as they stated "We have checked the server for possible issues, but we are sorry to say that it is a third party software and we have only limited support on it. So could you please contact the software provider directly for the support."

 

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this please & thank you...
