DailyLunatic Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Hi this is first time i've had to do this can someone please explain how I run sql scripts? As I am required to do so for many contributions I will to install... yes im a novice trying to teach myself any help most apprecited! I'm a newbie too, so bear with me as well. These instructions assume you use MySQL. (a good bet) If you use something else, I'm sorry, but it should give you an idea for what to look. 1] Log onto your Control Panel. Usually, you go to www.yourdomain.com/cpanel, then enter the login name and password you use to access your site (note - not the login for OSC Admin unless you made them the same). 2] Look for the MySQL icon and click on it. 3] Near the bottom of the page there will be a link to 'phpMyAdmin'. Click on that. 4] Look for the 'SQL' button. Click on that. 5] You should have an SQL window at this point. You now have the choice of cut/paste into this window, or click Import Files and tell it where the .sql is. I usually prefer to just cut/paste. When ready, click 'GO'. (note - Remember, just click 'GO' once. I made the mistake of clicking several times and had to dig through my DB to clean it up.) Hope this helps. Remember, pay it forward... help someone else when you can. :) Quote Sterling (a.k.a. DailyLunatic) Useful Threads: Basics for Design.
