i have gone through the install procedure and i have also had to download the patch to turn og the golbal thinging for my server.

got to the end of the install and i get the error:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

cd /hsphere/local/home/orenji/domain.com/catalog/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

cd /hsphere/local/home/orenji/domain.com/catalog/admin/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

Hi.

Welcome to the forum.

I had a very similar problem, as you are doing, i was uploading the files using SmartFTP.

Baically, after contacting my host, I found I had to login to the Cpanel, and change the file attibutes that way.

Whenever I changed the file attributes using SmartFTP they never seemed to save.

Basically, login to the web based FTP editor your host provides and change the file permissions that way.

Let us know how you go on.

Cheers,

Steve

thanks for the fast reply steve.

stupid question but how do i do this.

if i log in to my hosts control panel i can only get the settings for a ftp client and nothing else

i can log into a directory list using " ftp.mydomin.com " but this does not let me do any sort of permission changes?

sorry for being dumb?

Not dumb at all....

I'm not sure what host you are using, but most hosts provide some sort of control panel you can login to, to administrate your account and site.

You might be best off contacting them and asking how you change the file attributes of certain files.

For example with my host, I login to their website and click on cPanel...... and I can access a number of services.

steve

just looked everywhere and my host does not seam to offer this.

anyway i had tried through smartFTP to change permissions to 755, then 706 and nothing

so i tried 777 and low and behold its worked and i now have a screen saying:

New Installation

osCommerce Configuration

The configuration was successful!

i guess this is good!!

now what?!?!

also is i click on the adminstration button i get this page up:

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

any ideas?

I just tried loading it and got the following error page:

Warning: main(includes/configure.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/nas03l/c/carvolution-security.com/user/htdocs/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 31

Warning: main(includes/configure.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/nas03l/c/carvolution-security.com/user/htdocs/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 31

Can you tell us if your host has Register Globals set to On?

(This is necessary for osCommerce, however a workaround is avalble...)

You're installing this on your own server?

The file you ned to find is php.ini, open that file and search for 'register'... and your looking for a line that says register globals. Just make sure it's turned on.

Did you get my PM?

So I'm correct in the asumption you upload your file to fasthosts.co.uk?

It's your host who will need to amend the php.ini file. I suggest you raise a support ticker and ask them to enable Register Globals. Post their reply here and we should be able to help you either way.

Cheers.

just openen msg

I am with Fasthosts too and trying to get osCommerce to work (not successfully I might add)

The register globals in php.ini is OFF, I have been told. On shared servers that's what you get, as that's the default, for technical reasons I'm not sure I understand!

Hi,

I have the same error as you above :

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

How did you fix it?

Cheers
