More Description stuff

Is there a way to add more things to the description of a product, i was trying to add the fields in my database and in the categories.php file but i don't know if there is something out there to help. I would like it, so that when i go to add a procduct the same screen will have more fields that i can input data so that when someone looks at that product, it will have more information set up easier to see.
