php update by hosting company

Hi,

My site was designed by an external company and has been running fine for the last year and I've managed to add things and tweak it here and there. Problem is it went down today. I contacted my hosting company as I thought it was a problem there end and they said that they updated the version of php they are using and it does not work with my version of oscommerce.

Anyone else have this problem? How do I upgrade?

All the files and database are still on my domain just nothing is working. Is there a quick fix of a couple of files I need to update to make it compatible or is the whole site? I would really appreciate your advice as I'm losing business with every hour of downtime.

Regards

This usually happens when your host upgrades from PHP 4 to PHP 5 and you are running a pre-Update 060817 snapshot of OSC. See here for the quick fix:

It is indeed namesco. It's crazy. What version of oscommerce are you using? I really don't want to have to start from scratch and I'm losing so much business. I feel your pain. I'll message you if I find out anything too. I appreciate any help from here.

Did you get any help from the tech support people at namesco?

Regards

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, is it NamesCo?

We must have posted our messages at exactly the same time.

If I find anything I'll let you know straight away, I have 4 sites affected :'(

Regards

I am just looking for php.ini and was about to post the same message as you.

I have no idea where to look for php.ini and how to get at it and change it. Any suggestions from anyone?

Tech support didn't have a clue.

Check here for info - http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...p;#entry1029712

Only problem is, I can't find php.ini, I think it's further up the hosting system than we can get to.

Steve

php.ini is the PHP configuration file. Unless your host has provided you with your own copy of it to set as you need - it is generally not available to you. If you run into the register globals etc problem then search the forums and the contributions where this problem has been addressed countless times before.

Thanks. I just phoned tech support again and seems there are a lot of people having this problem so they have gone back to the old version of php and going to try and fix behind the scenes whatever has gone wrong and then put the new version out again.

My site is back, I can stop taking valium. I really think they should email us when they are going to do something like this.

Until next time.

Thanks for the support
