Does osCommerce have a subscription payment system?

I'm not selling "products" but rather "subscriptions" to my website. For example, people pay to subscribe for 12 months at a time to gain access to certain information on my website. They can also pay to attend workshops and conferences. Can osCommerce be tailored to handle these kind of transactions? I have only used it to set up shopping funcationality where they buy physical products (eg, books, etc).

 

If this is possible, when people subscribe does osCommerce have the functionality to tell people their membership expires on a certain date (in 12 months time)? Will it send them an automated message when their subscription is about to expire?
