Destination not writeable. error when uploading image??

[osc_learning]

Starting yesterday I'm not able to upload a product image into the same directory I've been able to for the last year. I get the error message "Destination not writeable." I am able to upload through vdeck and through dreamweaver but the osc admin tool gives me the error.

 

Any ideas?

the permissions for this folder are set to 777.
