Congratulations on making your first site but I think there is room for improvement.

There is no need to have the text: Always free shipping to the continental US in the pages because the font style and size look out of place compared with the rest of the text.

Since you are using STS you can certainly be a little more adventurous with the footer, at the moment it looks really basic in comparison with the header - surely you could add an image to the footer and then overlay your store details?

Because there is no column right, it takes away the osC stock looking situation so that is a good plus point in my book but the column left still needs looking at because the shopping cart should go on top of the category box and maybe something can be done to reduce it in height. Maybe the cart can go in the header and the header can be a little bigger/fuller because it is a bit tight up there.

Anyway, good luck and congratulations again.

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

I agree with Chooch on the footer and the free shipping text. I think the footer should be more clearly distinct from the body of the page and I would find a more attractive way to state free shipping (possibly as an image) and remove it from some of the pages.

Your privacy and conditions of use pages need some formatting. They are currently long threads of words without any breaks.

I like the category images you have created. They help emphasize the site's theme. I think consistency is important so would suggest creating similar images for the categories without images. I realize you said you have been experimenting with images so maybe this is already on your list.

The specials page has the stock OSC image in the top right and it looks out of place.

Another minor observation is that the 2 'more' arrows at the top right of the specials and shopping cart boxes are not in alignment.

Overall you have done a good job, imho. I like the overall look and the color theme you have gone with.

Good luck!

thanks so much for the feedback.

You're both right, the "Free shipping" looks.... out of place and stops the flow. I've tried a few images, but they didn't seem to 'work' with the site. I'll keep trying.

Yes, the header is a bit tight. I will expand it a little and include the shopping cart into the header. Maybe a "free shipping" image in the header or is that tacky?

The footer will be changed soon and I will repost with an updated footer.

Shopping cart needs a major overhaul and I'm trying a few different approaches.

The "more arrows" I'm trying to remove, and change the whole header to a link. Would that be stupid? Is it possible?

Thanks so much for letting me know about the Privacy and conditions! I had fixed it, but I guess I undid it.

It's still a work in progress with my main focus on 'ease of checkout'; there are too many steps right now. Also, I want to change the info boxes as they look so... stock. Removing default images is also high in the list. Would changing the categories to images, rather than text, be effective or do most find it distracting?

So many questions... I'll be attacking these problems again this weekend.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm very new to OSC and the curve is a bit steep. Again, thanks so much for the feedback. I value your opinions, wisdom and insight.
