Guest
OK, yet another tax question.... I sell a product in Alabama, State Tax rate is 4%, County 2% If I sell in a city like Gulf Shores, the city adds 3%: Total 9% If I sell in another Alabama city, the tax for the city may be 1%, add the state/county tax of 6% and I have to pay: 7% So the Base is always 6% State/county, City taxes vary everywhere.... How is everyone handling internet sales in their home state where they are obligated by law to pay State Sales tax + County Tax + City Tax (If sold in a city jurisdiction) ? jasonabc
Maybe look at these: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1856 or modify one of these: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,3906 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2046 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1659 For my stores, sales tax is calculated from the city the online store is based in (for example California 8.25% sales tax is charged to all California residents regardless of Cali location). Guest
Jason, Good Point ! I am just outside of a small town jurisdiction of 1% I have not have any in-state sales yet. Good thing..I;d probably have overcharged them. I probably need to set my sales tax for Alabama at 6% (State is 4% and County is 2%) Guess I just had a huge brain fart !... Thanks !!
