DeadDingo Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 Thanks for the kind words. Is there anything I have missed or something you would change if the site was yours?
Woolvey Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 As you gave me such good feedback on my site www.woolvey.com, I had to return the favor! Overall, I like your site a lot. You have selected an interesting niche market and you present it in a classy fashion. I like the simple black and gold theme. It doesn't need to be any more flashy because that would detract from the merchandise. Because of the nature of what you are selling you have stripped out a lot of the standard OSC features and are limited in which other mods could help you. It is difficult to offer constructive advice to improve what you have but I'll have a go anyway ;) How about: 1) A mechanism (dropdown or new page?) to allow a user to quickly browse all celebrities by name. I found that I could search to find someone but other than that I had to select whether they were a TV, Movie or Model celebrity and then their gender and then page through until I find someone I like. 2) This is more about the merchandise but with the other things you sell I would have expected a section on sports celebrities too. 3) I checked out your meta tags and you had misspelled celebrity as celebirty in a couple of places. I don't think this was intentional. 4) You could maybe add more reference material about particular stars, biographies, discographies, movie/tv credits, etc. or link to other sites that do this. The idea here is to attract people to your site with information, not just items for sale. I hope you find some of this useful. Thanks for reviewing my site! Please review my website www.woolvey.com
chooch Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I like the fact you have limited your store height by reducing the infoxes in both column left and right but when you click a category, there are 38 39 products folowed by a 'next page' - this makes the site look long and because the columns have no infoboxes, it makes the site look empty - it would better if you can make adjustments to counter the points I have raised because it will make the site look better. I think the width and colour stylesheet are appropriate to the line of products you sell but seriously, how doesn anyone know if they are even real signatures? Shouldn't there be a notice of authenticity somewhere so customers will not hesitate to buy? Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
DeadDingo Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks for the feedback. I will definately be looking into a few of them. I will have to investigate the metatags as I am using a metatag contrib to generate them. Thanks for the very helpful input. :D

Thanks for the input There is a statement of authenticity in the footer that hopefully explains that all the autographs are authentic. How can I change the amout of products displayed in the list at one time?
♥bruyndoncx Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I'd like to see a bit more black, the site is very white. If you sell images/graphics, sometimes an image gallery kind of interface makes more sense as a product listing. http://mondaybynoon.com/2007/02/19/suckerf...lightbox-redux/ The lightbox functionality mentioned on this post, takes care of resizing pictures to fit the browser screen height/width, which is one of the things that bothered me. Even if you don't do anything fancy like this, I would at least make hte image on the product info pages larger. Shipping / Countries served - where is the information, how much does it cost ? Copyright 2007 too ? KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?! How can I change the amout of products displayed in the list at one time? No, that looks like a page written by you... what I mean't was something official but really there can't be a way of showing authenticity. With all due respect to you and your osC shop - If I were looking for an autograph I wouldn't buy an autographed photo/card from your store because it is a niche market and your store doesn't look like a truly professional store dedicated to 'that' niche market. I do think the layout is fine but the last post is kind of right, maybe a little dark colour strategically placed wouldn't be a bad thing. You can limit your page results by going to catalog/admin/maximum values Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. abra123cadabra Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Your shop is clean, and easy to navigate but somehow lacking that bit of "wow" or excitement that I think autographs collectors have. I can't pinpoint what is necessary to give this atmosphere. My impression of your shop is like a D&G fashion store (with the colour scheme and minimalistic approach) crossed with a very clean hygienic highstreet shop like an opticians (with a no frills display of the products on sale). I'm obviously not a collector but after clicking through some pages I didn't know what else to look at. Once you have attracted your visitors to your site you need to keep them "entertained" so that they buy your products. This could be done with some more info around the autographs like a little story of how it "happened". Maybe if you can let me participate in this feeling of successfully getting an autograph from my favourite actor I'm more tempted to buy it. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.

Cause its been 7 weeks for me, but i did re enter it a few times checking what was the hold up thanks and blessings kalli
DeadDingo Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 I have never actually listed it under live shops on Osc. I must get round to doing it at some stage. Thanks for reminding me.

khoking Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I must say that you have a very nicely clean design site. I like the simplicity of it. Some comments: 1. Too empty on the left and right column 2. You can add: search by name/alphabet, price range...etc. on the left column below category 3. I read your Authenticity page, what you were saying is that yours is genuine because you sell at higher price. This is not a very good explanation for people to believe in you, especially by forging out so much money for a photo with signature on it. Here in Japan, when they sell signed products, they will include a photo of the celebrity signing the actual product on the spot. This convince people that the one they are selling is genuine signed by the celeb. Thanks. Regards, Kho King www.ShaShinKi.com Best regards, Koh Kho King
Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Hi All I have been working on this site for a fair while now and your comments would be fantastic. Well, here it is www.signaturesigned.com Please remember that the site is live, do don't buy anything as a test (unless you want to actually own it ;) ) Thanks in advance I think it looks great, but I have a few suggestions: 1) I was navigating and couldn't find a "home" button 2) You should consider putting a phone number on the top of each page. (My first oscommerce store went live back in 2003- after about 4 months someone suggested we put our phone number on the top of the screen- We did and started receiving about 10 calls a day - most were orders) The fact is, some people are too dumb to order online, and the rest are to paranoid. They would rather do it over the phone. 3) Take advantage of all that white space on top.
MarthaD Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I hate to say it but I see a very plain looking "generic" osCommerce site with a few cosmetic enhancements... Nothing to write home about but nothing to make me go "ewwwwww" either.
bobbins Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Hi, You have some good elements, but I would like to see some easy changes that would make it stand out 1) Colour the outsite table round you site as white & white doesn't stand out 2) The image on the products need to be twice the size at least, try it out as a simple change can give the WOW factor. 3) On clicking on the popup, the popup does not show the whole pic (it misses off the butt (literaly) on most images. 4) You haven't got an information section, no delivery info or info about the company...big yourself us. (just found the about us buried at the bottom of the screen) 5) Could your logo be smaller as it take up a lot of space (a 1/4 of my screen 1024) as the login, cart, checkout is lost in space! 6) The thing I used to get asked was "what is the postage ?", try putting an estimate shipping charge as with no delivery info anywhere and you ship worldwide...No would sign up to find out if they can find the product on other sites. Good luck Sean
