♥Loaded Commerce Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 we install all 2.2 cvs for our customers. I would go with 2.2 Best Regards, Salvatore Iozzia Loaded Commerce - Oscommerce - All Loaded Up.
Antipas Posted October 11, 2002 Author Posted October 11, 2002 Good thing I have a month before I have to go live I can have a great learning curve should I do an update or a fresh install? I have not made that many changes. (about 5 hours worth in the catalog.sql) http://www.qingqi.us/ Got Geek? Smash forehead on keyboard to continue.....
♥Loaded Commerce Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 There is an upgrade script. BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST. then try the upgrade script. if it bombs, then go for your own manual upgrade on a fresh install. Best Regards, Salvatore Iozzia Loaded Commerce - Oscommerce - All Loaded Up.
Antipas Posted October 11, 2002 Author Posted October 11, 2002 thank you :) The past couple days have been a crash course in php and mysql. I went and hit the bookstore Last night, I think I have my self even more confused than when I started. I did some research on having a E-commerce sight set up for me and the cost?s were out of this world so i am glad I found osCommerce. Thanks everyone for all your help I will be the newbie posting stupid questions for the next month the only good thing is I do RTFM when I can find it. Got Geek? netwize Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 2.2 is not ready if problem, you will get no help or support not as much as 2.1
Jan0815 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 2.2 is not ready if problem, you will get no help or support not as much as 2.1 This is (sorry to be harsh) nonsense. 90% of all posts in this forum deal with 2.2-CVS. We support both solutions, hell we even support some very obscure customizations. We (the developers) are working on 2.2 so guess what code is better known to us? If 2.2-CVS has the features you need - use it. It is in development though, so there might be changes happening. But if your snapshot does the job you want it to do - go ahead. netwize Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 2.2 has more bells and whistles, thats why I upgraded there are pros and cons to cvs I will wait awhile then do fresh install of new cvs, cuz mine is kaput! Good thing I'm just testing, I wouldnt want to mess with live site with cvs. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php...4020&highlight= cheers
Antipas Posted October 11, 2002 Author Posted October 11, 2002 Well I am going to go ahead and try to install 2.2 this morning on a different server and see how it gose I will keep you posted Got Geek? Smash forehead on keyboard to continue.....

Guest Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 this is snapshot from aug... the Loaded deal... I've been tring to break it before I go live....haven't been able to... (this is not an invitation for malicious attacks!) http://stnick.cnw-designs.com I'm happy! go for the 2.2.....
Antipas Posted October 11, 2002 Author Posted October 11, 2002 Ok I went ahead and updated everything went smooth so far every once in a wile i get a strange error and get kicked out of something but if I go back and do it the second time it seems to work so *shrug* go figure now I just have to re customize it is there a way to update that will save your customizations? i.e. logo?s banner?s buttons ? t0mc4t Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Well, I'm still new here... And I'm really confuse with all off it. Right now, I have downloaded the PR2.1 and I can't find the install/install.php file. After read some of these post, it said that I have download the 2.2 cvs. So is 2.2 cvs same with oscommerce 2.2???? What is the different within them (PR2.1 & 2.2 cvs)? Which version is the good one??
forresthump1 Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 hi antipas Could you please describe how you got rid of the errors described - as if you read a few posts down myself and another member are also having the exact same errors as you described :Warning: fopen("/usr/home/geeks/www/www.myserver.org/catalog//admin/admin/includes/configure.php", "w") - No such file or directory in /usr/home/geeks/www/www.myserver.org/catalog/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_5.php on line 166 Warning: fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /usr/home/geeks/www/www.myserver.org/catalog/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_5.php on line 167 Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /usr/home/geeks/www/www.myserver.org/catalog/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_5.php on line 168 The configuration was successful! thanks in advance
ahiatt Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 I noticed on your line that reads: ------------------- Warning: fopen("/usr/home/geeks/www/www.myserver.org/catalog//admin/admin/includes/configure.php", "w") - No such file or directory ------------------- it has two '//' between '/catalog//admin/admin/includes' plus it has '//admin/admin' I think you need to change something in your path or home directory. Look in the application_top.php file. I had to make a ton of changes there to get my install to work. -- Adam osCommerce is Cool!
