Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /oscommerce/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.ge at the top of page. I've spent hours trying to understand how to fix this config.php. I'm pretty new & the more I learn the dumber I feel LOL. Anyone know how to help?
Guest
Use your FTP client and change the permissions of the file 'file: /oscommerce/catalog/includes/configure.php' to 604 if I remember correctly.

FIMBLE
If you are on a window box, if Linux CHMOD to 400, 444, 644 if you have to. Some servers will not let you CHMOD to 400, or 444. jeffro25
If you are using dreamweaver for your ftp, all you have to do is go to the remote view, find the file and right click on it. It will give you the option to set permissions for this file and click on that. Then just uncheck the box next to where it says write and you should be good to go. To check it, just go back to the web page in your browser and refresh and the error message should be gone. Remember though, you have to be in remote view instead of local view or it will not give you the option to set permissions. :)
