Code Red Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Ahhh, that old chestnut - I get it on every domain I ever try to install OSC on, so I've just got used to fixing it. Hopefully the next version will have the fix as a default. You can get around it using a line of code on an .htaccess file in the root of your domain, which is what most of the links in KGT's Google search will tell you to do, or you have to muck around with the php.ini file (good luck finding it!) but increasingly I'm finding that won't work on a lot of domains either. I recommend you install this patch - Globals fix Works fine for me!
♥Vger Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I recommend that you don't install the Register Globals patch, unless you have no choice. The reason being - most of the 3000+ contributions for osCommerce are not Register Globals 'off' compatible. Vger

Although I must admit I've not had any problems and I use loads of contributions.
xmyheart Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I have a similar problem, I am new to this so please bare with me. I have uploaded oscommerce via cpanel / Fantastico and this is the error that comes up for me; Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory. I have downloaded the patch as suggested and I've unziped it but there is no instructions as to where to then upload the files to, do they go just into the public_html folder or somewhere else? Thanks in advance Michele

joyboy2001 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 ok ... here's what I did ... wrote to host about this issue and asked them to turn on Register Globals on both the default and default/admin folders ... done in <6 hours ... Working fine now ...
