anguspoe Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 My admin index is open to the public.(does not require a pw to access the admin side of the house) what file should i be looking for and what should the code read in order to prompt a login name and password? Thanks for the help
Jack_mcs Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Many hosts offer a password protection option in their control panels. You should look there first. Guest Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I posted the same question about a week ago (tho it may have been in a different forum) and got a lot of links to great articles about .htaccess files and their usage. Problem is that not only am I intimidated by .htaccess files, but I think different server configurations affect how they seem to work. My research and tinkering is yet to produce a working model. A link to a "for dummies" article on password protecting the admin folder (directly as it relates to osCommerce) would be appreciated. (Does anyone else find it hard to get really good search results in here?)
Guest Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I looked into the password protected directories (plesk 8.0), but I could only create new directories, I couldn't pass-protect an already existing one.
Guest Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 You can password protect existing directories in plesk after all. Even though the console says "add new directory", as long as you use the correct path, plesk will protect an existing directory. bro
