ianric
Hi I've searched but couldn't find and answer. I work locally, change a bit upload, change a bit upload etc so I have a backup of my files. I can go into Admin > tools and backup the database but how do I backup the config of my site? ie min/max values, tare weight, store owner, all the countries etc Cheers Ian
hugoboss
As far as i know all these values are IN your database. Your question is not clear (to me) ; do you rub your site locally i.e. change dbase values locally? If you backup your dbase all values are stored in the backup. You can download the backup of the dbase. HS

My question should have been "how do I get back up and running if my site/webhost server completely crashes?". I only have my files locally, the database is on the remote server and doesn't get modified unless I install a contrib. You are right, the values are in the database. I opened the backup SQL in wordpad and all the values are there so panic over. Thanks Ian
hugoboss
Ian, No reason for panic whatsoever as long as you keep your backups in a safe place. Keep a local copy of your pages and dbase on a regular basis. If (ever) your server has a serious problem, just restore and your ok again. All info is in mysqlbase, so DO download, or copy by SQLQuery, your dbase. I am very happy with 'sqlyog' a good interface to the dbase on the server. Of course you can use phpadmin or just download the files from your /catalog/backup area as well! Youre welcome, Hugo Ps i am testing daily online external backup service on my server ( i host as well) which also allows you to backup your local pc to to the same 'vault' !! It looks very prommising..
