onedownfiveup
What do you use to edit these PHP files? I have a few things I need to edit and they tell me what line they are on, but in Word Pad they don't go by # of lines and I don't want to count out 500 lines. I have a few things I need to edit and they tell me what line they are on, but in Word Pad they don't go by # of lines and I don't want to count out 500 lines. I usually make a backup in admin then I go to Tools->File Manager->the file I wish to edit I then copy and paste the page to notepad in case something doesn't work and I can't remember exactly what the original code was before the edit, I can then replace the file with the copy I made, if I really stuff up I just do a restore from the backup I did beforehand! All your editing can be done through File Manager in the admin section. Not sure how others do it but this works fine for me... Cheers Ros
mreigle
Dreamweaver -- I like the color coding of the code, I like to know what line # I am working on, and I like to be able to save and upload what I'm working on to the FTP server with just two clicks. jasonabc
I usually make a backup in admin then I go to Tools->File Manager->the file I wish to edit DO not use OSC's FileManager. It's extremely buggy and causes lots of problems. For working with PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript et al., Adobe Homesite is an excellent tool for working on OSC stores. By the amount of queries in these forums OSC is extremely buggy in every aspect! However, as I said this works fine for me and my store operates without any problems so OSC's File Manager musn't be that buggy after all! I also edit the files through cpanel and haven't had any problems doing it that way either! JMO (which I am entitled to!) Cheers Ros :-"

theguardianangel
I've used most of the others mentioned, but to be honest the best editor is UltraEdit32, been using it for years and still can't find another editor that comes close to some of the features it has.
