voxmaris
OsCommerce powers that be chose to use an paid for forum "IP.Board" vs. an open source forum such as PHPBB. I was just curious as to why. I am getting ready to launch a forum on my site and was wondering so that I can decide which way to go myself. Thanks, Shawn
Harald Ponce de Leon
Hi Shawn.. The right tool should be used for the right job - whether it is Open Source or not. Our community forums actually grew from Phorum -> phpBB -> InvisionBoard. The needs of the forum moderator team obviously grew with the size of the community, where InvisionBoard meets most of the needs today. The jump from Phorum to phpBB was made to enhance the community atmosphere with more detailed user profiles, and the jump from phpBB to InvisionBoard was made to better suit the needs of the forum moderators. , osCommerce
