rascalrc
Hello, I have had a nightmare with my new website. My "webmaster" has difficulty installing contributions, and has not been able to fix the SSL Certificate Warning that keeps scaring customers away, never to return. Is anyone familiar with the OSCommerce site, installing the SSL properly as well as modules like placing the category "Tabs" at the top? I am willing to pay instantly to get these issues resolved. Please contact me about rates and timeframes. Oh, I will also need a new hosting complany. Dealing with someone in the U.S. would be great as the telephone beats text messages any day. ;) I have been forced to disable the site due to the message creating a bad impression. If that wasnt obvious enough. lol
Guest
Did you purchase an ssl certificate? And does it point to your site? does it point to the https://www. domain or the https://domain as some you buy will only point to one of them. nst888
It would be against the rules for me to tout for work but I am happy to give some free advice. If you put site back live and give us a link we should be able to to tell you what is causing the SSL problems. It's most likely caused by a stray http absolute link somewhere in your pages. Are you running Google Analytics? If so, you need to change the javascript link to <script src="https://ssl.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript"></script> Otherwise that will cause a SSL error. The https:// is almost always the same issue - as Fred mentioned : Make sure you *know* if your certificate was validated for https://www.domain.com OR https://domain.com There IS a difference for the validity, and opf course the cost. You can talk to your host about it, and you can talk to your cert issuer about it. Or - you should also be able to click the padlock, and view the details of the cert. Also - type in your site with the www, then without the www, with the https://www, then without the www like https:// to see if the brwoser reacts differently. Whatever you are valid for, this needs to be refelcted in two files : /includes/configure.php admin/includes/configure.php It's basic info - and is easily explained here : http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=193738 Post back any questions - get this sorted first since it is affecting your business - then come back and we'll talk about tabs at the top. ;-D A url always helps. Guest
Also, what company issued your cert? I and my webhost (who I know) were unable to get the first cheapo certificate I purchased (RegisterFly SSL) to install correctly so as not to bring up a warning. We ended up upgrading to a better cert, and installation was much easier. No more issues, and setting up in oscommerce was a snap. I even got the upgraded cert for free, which paid for some of the headache.
