Andrew, you may want to give the osCommerce contribution (add-on) Simple Template System version 4.4 a look. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1524 It will easily allow you to integrate osCommerce into your existing web site. Take a look at what I did for a client recently and you will see what I mean: http://www.hatoverheels.com The above site was developed using only osCommerce and the Simple Template System. They started with a design and STS brought in osCommerce into that design. Have fun, Bill K. jagguy
Hi, I don't know how to instal STS as the instructions don't make sense. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1524 The readme.txt and this file doesn't exists either /catalog/includes/sts_template.html So this allows just an addon to an existing website? jagguy
ok i found the download but maybe more information about this wouldn't hurt
jagguy
How do you edit posts here? Install sts requires me to install the files over the currect install of catalog folder, as no modified folder exists in catalog as the instructions claim? That means you can only use STS or oscommerce full package and not both? How does this work as am i disabling the current oscommerce and the files exists i a lot of folders . bkellum
ok i found the download but maybe more information about this wouldn't hurtHello Andrew. I'm not sure what kind of problems you are having since you did not go into details. Regarding wanting more information, the contribution includes the most robust documentation out of any contribution available for osCommerce bar none. The User Manual alone is several pages in length. There is a separate installation manual to get guide you through the entire install. If you are already familiar with uploading files via FTP and designing web pages, you won't have any trouble at all installing and using STSv4.4.The developers of STS (me included) have worked very hard to make the current version very simple to use. For those who do not know any PHP, it makes osCommerce a valid option for ecommerce as well as allowing them to change the overall look and feel of their online store. jagguy
Hi, Thnaks for the reply. You helped make STS, it looks like a greeat idea and much php work involoved. I just did a whole websute with php/mysql and some flash/ajax/css/html/JS and yes they get a little confusing I must admit. Now I can install oscommerce no problems. Then I found out about STS so I downloaded that. The instructions say just copy sts files into existing catalog dir. Does this allow me to use sts and the full version or am i just able to use STS? PS How popular is designing a storefront with a package compared with, integrating an existing website with purchase facilities or having a storefront just with ebay? I don't know much about ecommerce trends.
