Hello,

Take a look at my site and tell me what you think. I have been getting a very good amount of hits but not enough purchases. Please give me your harshest opinions!.

anyone get a chance to look yet ?

Well it's fast. (very positive)

A bit bland though, also I'm a lover of "white space" but maybe there's a bit too much, it seems to have no structure.

This is a widely available template.... what are we supposed to comment on when there are many sites around that look exactly the same as yours? I bought a template CD last year with this one on it.

You could have mentioned in your opening comment that it was a template otherwise it gives the impression you made the site - when all you did was upload it to a server and asking about how it looks per-se rather than what your modification work on the template looks like.

I can't see what you have done that's 'yours' apart from some replacing of the buttons. The product info pages are the same 'old' where you have the length of the product description so long that it scrolls down to the point where there is nothing the column left - that is a huge turn off.

Maybe you should give up on the template and use a stock version of osC and start slowly but surely trying to build your own store, that'll be a good learning curve.

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

If you are familiar with dreamweaver then that will be enough to meet your needs.

Maybe you should download osc from the downloads section, then ftp it to your site. Once you get it all up and running you can make alterations bit by bit. Your dreamweaver ftp will allow you to back up and upload modified files (ie styleheet, header logo etc)

I would advise you to do that to start.

Ok I started working a site from scratch but It is not done yet. Here is what I have so far

http://www.astawerks.com/shop

I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove What's New Here? What's New Here?

Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?

I want to place a rotating banner in that place. To have ad's for my products. I also want to change the headers ' Manufacturers' 'categories' etc. I feel that it is comming good so far considering this my first shot.

Please tell me what you think.

looks stock, but the header and horizontal menu look good. header colors look good, to me at least.

I was in the same boat. I tried a lot of different templates, but in the end, I liked what I created more. It's a steep curve to getting the shop looking good. STS is a great place to start and will really open your eyes for possibilities.

thanks i realize it looks stock. what I want to do which I think might help it a bit is how do I chance the header over categories, manufactuer etc. I still can't figure out how I can change the size of that box?
