Multiple Cart Installations

Is it possible to set up OSCommerce, securely, to handle multiple shopping carts?

 

SSL Certificates are expensive, and IPs are scarce, so I'd like to be able to set up a single domain for shopping carts and just use a path to identify multiple sites. For instance, something like this :

 

http://shop.example.com/store1

http://shop.example.com/store2

 

Is this possible in a secure manner?
