Eaglesoars
This is the message I get after I followed all the steps, What do I do Now? Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory. psynaptic
This is the message I get after I followed all the steps, What do I do Now? You need to find your php.ini file. It is usually in the /etc directory. When you have found this file so a search for 'register_globals' and change the value to 'on'. Save the file and it should work fine. Register globals can be a security risk and there is a that allows oscommerce to run with it switched off. Just do a search for 'register globals' in the contribution section. Personally, I have left mine switched on. However I have the url address and a completly white screed except for the words I pasted the last post.

Give more info about your hosting situation. Surly if I had a clue how to get to those files, or where they were I wouldn't be messing around here trying to ask for help. As I stated, I downloaded the program, it never opened, instead I get this screen. I I think I've figured it out, delete the dang thing, and use a different e-commerce program. You're not giving any indication of your actual situation. Let me take a shot at what I'm guessing your situation is: You downloaded oscommerce from this site. You extracted the files to your web host or to your local machine where you have a server setup. You have created a database and run the installation script. Then once installation is complete you try to go to the store front but are given an error message? psynaptic
correct. Are you hosting the site with a hosting company? Is it that they do not give you access to the configuration files. If you don't have access to these files then you need to ask you host to change it for you. Guest
use this contribution http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2097 because many hosts are enforcing register globals to be off.
