chooch
You need to have certain things available on your server like php, apache, mysql - without those oscommerce won't work. Your question reminds me of when I was a novice with 'free' hosting and I tried to do various things with online forms not realising CGi was not part of the 'free' hosting. Maybe you should ask your host if osc is compatiable on the space they have provided you. It may well be on the server but not your hosting package. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
Guest
I have php and apache on my server, the mysql database is on db4free.net. but not sure whether its the connection details that are causing that or oscommerce not running on the server properly? can you recommend any good free hosting packages that will help me out? thanks, Lee. ♥Vger
Why waste time trying to run osCommerce on 'free' hosting packages, with all their limitations - when full hosting is so cheap? Vger

woomik
Well if you can find me a great solution for cheap that might be great to :P :) I found a great service provider at Servage.net It's only £4.95/$6.45 per month. What's more, they have auto installers that will install osCommerce for you. I "autoinstalled" osCommerce & was up & running within 5 minutes!!! Try it! :D
