The day I took my client's store live somebody placed a large order and paid through Paypal. No order was recorded in OSC. The guy did show up as a customer, but with zero orders.

Now we have the guy's money (almost $200) and no idea what he ordered. Yes, we can contact him, but how awful is that? Is there any way to figure this out? Plus, I obviously need to know what went on so I can make sure it doesn't happen again.

Please help me figure this out.

That's a common problem with the stock paypal module. If you are using that, it should be update with the one named oscommerce_paypal_ipn. As for the order, you could check on paypal to see if it shows up there. If not, you have no choice but to call the customer.

I too had the same problem. My site has been live for a while now & suddenly the new orders are not showing up - they didn't show up in Paypal either - so I have to contact the customer. I would like to know if the fix achieved your desired results.

Nothing in your osCommerce admin panel + nothing in Pay Pal = no order.

Either that or else you have the wrong email address entered for Pay Pal in osCommerce admin --> Payment Modules --> Pay Pal.

I'll certainly be sure to put the new module in and will let you know how it works.

BTW, I was able to find the order in the database. I had to open mySQL and find the customer info, found his ID. Then I looked in the "baskets" categories and found the items attributed to him. I still wrote to verify it. But the numbers all balanced out (weights/shipping/etc.)

Whew. I did actually try to call, but since the guy is in Alaska I didn't leave a number, decided to go the email route. Gotta few other things to figure out as well.

Actually the money went to paypal just fine. The customer was listed in the admin panel with no orders. Apparently a glitch in the old module. I was able to dig the data out of the database because it was still listed as in his cart.

Is it easy to explain how you went into the database and found what was still in the cart?
