Guest
OOOh , this is a good question, I hope someone replies....(I am a newbie) To be honest i think this question has been answered before, i have been using oscommerce about 6 months now and im still learning. I think what you have to decide is what is important for you on the site. Good guidelines say install as few mods as you need, that means less database transactions and speedier load times as you are not downloading as much code. Ultimate SEO Urls by a guy called (on here) chemo is a good mod http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ch,ultimate+seo Also i use header tag controller to control my keywords, descriptions, title tags etc http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...+tag+controller The above two will help a little with SEO, but to be honest id put as much effort as you can into making sure you have good content. Another SEO tool is to have a sitemap, there are a couple ive used One called dynamic sitemap http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri.../search,sitemap and this one which does products (for me is more valuable currently) http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri.../search,sitemap So a bit of choice there. You could go on to be honest, what you have to do is figure out what you want in the site, and then visit http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions Then put in the search what you are looking for Other useful things to look into include Google / Froogle xml feeds Picture management (this is a must) There is also a thread on here about speeding up your transactions, which is worth a read and will introduce you to what you need to do http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119077
jasonabc
Depends on the store - but: Featured Products Product Listing in Columns Discount Codes and Gift Vouchers (CCGV trad) Search in product descriptions Attribute Sets Plus QT Pro are ones i usually can't live without ;-) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
spax
All those mentioned above, plus: A thumbnail contribution - Definate, must have. Or MoPics - Depending on what you need. Or Dynamic MoPics - If you need more than 6 (I think) images per product. Image Sub-Categories - Keeps everything in its place. SPPC - If you have a need for it, this is a quality contribution. SPPC Bolt Ons - As above. More Categories - Not a must have but really handy for manipulating category listings. Chemo's Query Debug - Excellent tool for database optimising. Infact, Chemo - Such a vast knowledge base. Such a waste!
