Add small msg for each product category

Anyone know how to modify osc so that when a visitor clicks on one of the product categories, you can add a little text to the top of the page, briefly describing the category and the products in it, then list the products in that category underneath?

It's called a category description. There is a Categories Description contribution meant to do that or the Header Tags Controller contribution that does that and more. The latter is the better choice since it does much to optimize your site for the search engines at the same time.
